More Endorsments From Trance Stars

Paul and VW

Volkswagen is highlighting celebrities favorite things. And of course the king of German Trance is featured does this mean commercials with his music in them, he already has taken a year out to compose just for video games, so commercials might not be far off his list when his music is concerned

EDM DJ Designer Clothes

Tiesto designs shirts for   Guess

and Avicii has a line for Ralph Lauren called Denim And Supply

EDM is a culture with its own look? Is this like when Hip Hop artists create their own lines? I don't know of any rock artists with their own designs ...maybe they don't care how they look lol or they are just either too plan or outrageous to be a line. Whatever it is, these DJs are racking in the dough, will others follow or just stay focused on the music? Its a look and a feel and very similar to their own signature style, will you buy?

Tiesto gets in on the dance craze

Don't Ditch The Gangnam Style

Why not ditch it? Maybe because the dance is easy and actually fun but just so happens to totally look odd (like a goose haha).... and the original, well Korea does love its EDM

Live (Just-for) Online Sets

Just a few hours ago PVD played Beatport Live, in the Berlin studio on USTREAM, playing just for an online audience, which he often does. You can find many more sets streaming to you live on USTREAM. Take a look at their Upcoming Shows section on the bottom of the page for the next one, Beatport

Here's a replay of today to enjoy again :o)

Video streaming by Ustream

A Trance Documentary w/ AvB

After following AvB for one year...  On October 6th at 9.30 p.m. CET, the documentary will be premiered worldwide via the YouTube channel of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. It will be available online for 2 weeks then from October 12th on, ‘A Year With Armin van Buuren’ will be available on DVD.

There already has been a fictional movie loosely based on a German psy-trance/techno DJ, Paul Kalkbrenner, called "Berlin Calling" 2008

This is one of my favorite parts from the movie, showing the DJ's breakdown its a dark movie but this ending is pretty hilarious

EDC does VEGAS!!! and we're still talking about it

RELIVING IT!

THAT LEGENDARY SUNDAY!!!!

  One Week later

No wind storm could bring down the dedicated TRANCERS  of ASOT Saturday night. Every stage had to turn off the music. But the concert goers still waited in another area for over an hour and a half, to get a special performance by Markus Schulz who already played for an hour or so back to back with AvB. Armin Van Buuren saved the electronic world with continuing the ASOT radio show in the "tiny trailer that would survive an Apocalypse" just to continue bringing us trance. ASOT was playing close to the night's original schedule with Markus, CosmicGate, and W&W, to help keep spirits alive on the front land indeed playing until dawn, or 5ish when people officially
 had to scram!

The next day.....

an amazing thing happened to trance

a sense of pride trancers had when they arrived, turned into something truly more magical when they left. And it would hit every listener at home and on the go, just as hard

Who Played EDC Vegas?

ASOT Line Up: Legendary

LISTEN ALONG :o) <-click this guy

a lot of old schoolers were out
The DJs that made us fall in love the first time to Trance

It was trance history
every DJ showing how they kicked ass enough to be at the top and how they continue to reign
it was like a personal audio bio from everyone!
It started with memory lane hits I haven't heard for a while by Kristina Sky :o)
being in the biz for a decade she had an amazing amount to offer and started the greatest trance show on earth! that I have and prob will ever hear, unless everyone gets together and jams! like the B2Bs!
the storm truly kicked off : the best show ever, the night before it even happened

circuitGROUNDS wasn't on fire... That Sh*T EXPLODED!

BT :o) hit the stage and things got surreal!
Coming out with his young daughter in tow

Things were set from that point on as BT played with everything he had
We were in for, not only the show of the year but the show of our lives

Tritonal :o) not only kept the vibe alive they added they're own uniqueness to it,
building us up higher and higher to the huge release of Armin Van Buuren to the recuse
like he did the night before

Each DJ that night because of the storm, gave AvB :o) 15mins off their set to add to an hour of dedication from the Trance Giant
The undertone of honoring trance itself played forward from than on as AvB communicated his gratitude to everyone uniting through trance

ATB :o)  than hit the stage! The most exciting set ever
By the middle you can feel he was not only playing for the crowd, that bask in front of him, but for the listeners all over the world
We took to him in awe as he was honoring US the trancefamily, for being dedicated listeners keeping all EDC Vegas going at that dramatic point on Saturday evening we were more apart of ASOT than the people in EDC's physical vicinity
Towards the end he was so overwhelmed with emotion tweets flew in from who were up close, letting us know what was happening, keeping us... the whole tranceWORLDfamily together, in real time

After a teary eyed ATB left the stage Dash Berlin :o) charged in
and caught us before we were all left puffy eyed and showed us our strength and power
There was no place like Vegas at that moment in time
They have roughed it all night no sleep for days celebrating in the high winds and sitting it out til it started again and came back wanting even more
Im sure they were even a bit jealous of the trancers at home for a minute and then turned in to enjoy the Back to Back with Markus and Armin... we were all jealous of small few in that tiny trailer
Armin put the world in that trailer for one amazing night!

Ferry Corsten :o) was up
Dedicated fans in America grabbed a coffee to start a second wind for the last two headliners of this amazing night
some trailed off grabbing the download later on, while the rest of the world woke up and took their spots
Vegas was exhausted emotionally and physically after all this
but they tranced on anyway
no one was walking out on that!

Aly & Fila :o), Egypt's finest
summed up the night beautifully

I am soo bummed I missed this amazing show,
but I enjoyed every beat of it in the East of A!

Wanna relive EDC's magic over and over?
It includes the Armin Van Buuren set he was scheduled to do at a different stage, after he played for the crew that missed him live on Saturday
Sure ASOT was missing its host
but Trance let itself speak that night
 we didn't need anything else

Rock Unites w/Dance!

Yes we have heard everywhere it seems Trance fusing with Rock...

but now! since May 2 2012 in Connecticut:

My favorite alternative rock station changed... for Saturday nights midnight to 2am. DJ Darth Fader's radio show, Digital Takeover is featuring dance remixes of familiar favorites. He has a bit of everything for everyone in the techno world. He played a reggae type dub step that morphed into a sound similar to Swedish House Mafia, as well as some Daft Punk favorites. Its a fusion a different styles from across the spectrum he's calling it dub-step/dance/classic electro.  He's mixing his sound with... yes, Nirvana, The Beastie Boys, and Cold Play's "Paradise".  Sounds very unfamiliar for the Trance Family ear.

This station based out of Hartford, CT, is known for its great selection of music from Alternative Rock, this station has always had a great ear in what they play. I have been a faithful listener for years, since it went on the air, off the air, relived online and back on mainstream air again.  They have massive amount of coverage for the area.  And honestly, just visiting CT would be a sad place without THAT station, I know I had to do it when they were in hiatus, not a good time at all.

Their night time shows usually feature new up and coming indie sounds and other songs and artists that hadn't quite become fully known yet, you would usually hear it there before anywhere. I remember hearing one song I loved, I didn't hear on the radio again until it popped up a year later on one of my stations back at home in NY, playing like it just came out. They defiantly keep up and are constantly  on the look for the next big thing without ever forgetting the old classics and the not so heard of, old great songs. They keep the old greats alive by playing them like they were only a year old. I was really pleased and surprised that I heard some interesting trance beats coming out of this great old station.

Here you can listen to Radio 104 Online anywhere:

Digital Takeover w/DJ Darth Fader:

 Saturday Midnight-2am on Radio 104

How far have we come?
I hope its something!

EDC NYC (a Trance First) :oD

So the first overall crash-course in trance has truly hit the Big Apple....

A State of Trance first coverage of EDC for NYC since starting its broadcast around the world 11 years ago. what does this mean? more venues than just Pacha holding trance shows in the future?  Good trance has taken over the city finally.... bringing the now updated classic 90s oversea sound to America. The Saturday event was a great day for EDC and the electronic revolution, there wasn't a bad place to dance in the entire venue. 4 stages all headlining most of the world's greatest DJ's alive right now.  A full day of great sounds of dance around the world all going on at the same time, how could you choose which stage to box yourself into...? The founders of trance played on the circuitGrounds where the ASOT tent was up in full swing to broadcast their headliners. Hosted by the world's God to Trance, Armin Van Buuren watched on short circuit television as the event unfolded. He interviewed favorites after and before they went on stage.  The last 3 headliners' sets blew up twitter feeds and facebook; Markus Schultz, ATB, and Armin himself putting a cap onto opening a new playing field for trance in America. Gareth Emery and John O'Callaghan set the stage for the even more recognizable names and sounds in trance by Americans.

The deeper a fan you are the more knowledge you have of the greatness of all musicians on Saturday.  For the hundreds of people dragged by friends or just curious thrill seekers came for a crash course in electronic music than came out feeling more alive and aware of a "different kind of life'' after it was over they tweeted. Saturday was a historic and important day in Trance for America. But why so long??? ATB was the American ambassador, he brought us hits like "Ecstasy" and "Behind" all recognizable by Americans who were alive in the 90's listening to pop radio stations. But NO AMERICAN could remember his NAME it seems!!!  It didn't translate, were DJ's neglecting to tell us because he was a German guy with a thick accent that scared of Americans??  Or was it that his name were his initials and not just his name?? It wasn't because he wasn't attractive! Was it because he wouldn't translate when interviewed on MTV?? I have no idea we obviously liked this genre it got major air play but then the rock wave hit and pop became more rock star. And trance slipped away and remained European. But it was still alive and growing into something amazing. Dutch DJ's made trance sophisticated and respected setting the bar so high for other DJs following in their footsteps.  These headliners topping the top from the ASOT tent have been around and touring for over a decade. Some how Americans started to have an ear for the trance sound again. More and more people are demanding it be brought here in NYC.

Though trance is no stranger to Vegas or LA, the easy breezy beach sounds are shifting a bit with a more hardcore dirtier sound. Strong centered New Yorkers are finding the new shift completely engulfing and empowering.  Progressive trance has been around awhile its no new thing but it has been refined. Progressive trance a very harsher style its not as experimental as dub-step in sound and not as cleanly simple beat-ed as house. Its as complicated as trance just with a bit more meat still the dynamic ride. Germans have seem to master this niche genre and have risen it to a higher level. Personally I am absolutely in love with it, nothing else is quite like it or has been. Plus it translates itself into an amazing live dance experience as ATB showed Saturday. Its alive and most importantly involved. Still ATB has chill trance tracks he still creates on his albums for a different mood at home. He has truly mastered the new trance or renewing trance listener's ear. Artists that still remain in their style yet tailors to moods are what music has evolved to and electronic musicians have figured this out first in a way that we can except their individual identity as a maker of music. We as Americans can start to identify a DJ by the music he creates instead of the lyrics they sign or the sound of their voice. A more complicated thing than we are used to but we are now eager to learn. Even so the leaders paving the way now use a lot of vocal lyrical elements for their songs adding an amazing emotional attachment to the songs. They tailor the voice to the song rather than the musical instrumentals to one voice, like most all bands by America.  That makes and have made this genre a revolution to music worldwide.  Now America now has a taste Nationally. No longer just as background warm up music for a workout or just for plan stimulation for staying awake to cram for exams especially for the med students. (they simply are smarter than the average American those Doctors....haha)

So enjoyed EDC and ASOT? some were asking whats up with the rock references? Cold play mixes by Gareth Emery, Teen spirit sampled but untouched by both Gareth and ATB? it tailors to the NYC taste a bit, but I see it as a tribute to a time that trance and rock did co exist. Two completely different sounds both great in there own means, plainly a time for great music before it was muddled and converted to a pop genre that seems to have an identity crisis. Now "pop" is something left to children, adolescents and confused adults. There used to be a time when popular music was an either or situation the 70s didn't have much to offer but what was good everyone listened to because there just was few alternative options, rock or disco was America's main choice at one time. Music has grown.... music is once again a composition to be pondered about, a break from it all.  Trance has a great balance of that and a sing along element. Its kinda like it has ADD and keeps our attention longer with the mental and emotional changes it makes. Trance breeds a happiness, even if its a "sad song" its makes sure it reaches that higher spiritual level and leaves us happy again. Psychologically changing our thoughts on our emotional stress-fully situation leaving only a happy lovely glow on life.
